Job Title: Senior Accountant {Contract}

Location: Calgary, AB

Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee full-cycle accounting processes for our clients. The successful candidate will manage tasks such as payroll, tax preparation, financial reporting, and year-end adjustments using Sage 50, QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, and Profile tax software. The role involves ensuring accuracy in all financial records, handling CRA filings, and providing excellent client communication. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Accountant include, but are not limited to:

  • Full-Cycle Accounting: Manage all aspects of full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

  • Tax Preparation (Profile Software): Prepare and file corporate and personal tax returns using Profile tax software, ensuring compliance with Canadian tax laws.

  • Sage 50, QuickBooks Desktop & QuickBooks Online: Maintain and manage accounts using these platforms, ensuring data accuracy and timeliness.

  • Year-End Adjustments: Prepare year-end financial adjustments, working closely with auditors and tax advisors to ensure accurate reporting.

  • Payroll & Source Remittances: Manage payroll processing, calculate employee wages, and process remittances for payroll taxes and source deductions.

  • GST Returns: Prepare and submit GST/HST returns, ensuring compliance with all tax regulations.

  • Records of Employment (ROEs): Prepare and submit ROEs when necessary.

  • CRA Filings & Trust Examinations: Upload tax filings to the CRA, handle CRA trust examinations, and respond to CRA inquiries.

  • REP ID with CRA: Act as a liaison with the CRA on behalf of the company or clients using REP ID.

  • Client Communication: Provide exceptional client communication, addressing inquiries, and managing missing documentation.

  • Daily Financial Oversight: Review banking records, monitor financial operations, and ensure all financial data is accurately maintained.

  • Opening Balances & Reconciliations: Manage and reconcile opening balances for new fiscal periods.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in full-cycle accounting and tax preparation

  • Proficiency in Sage 50, QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Excel, and Profile tax software

  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing, GST returns, and CRA filings

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of Canadian tax regulations and financial reporting

  • Proficiency in financial software including Profile tax software

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to work independently and manage client relationships

Compensation:

  • Pay Range: $35-50/hour

  • Work Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

  • Location: Onsite - Calgary, AB {Beltline area}
